I was born and raised in Clinchco, Virginia, within walking distance of the McClure River. I grew up fishing with my father and still do every chance we get. Throughout elementary school and high school, I was always involved in sports such as football, basketball, baseball, and track. We were constantly on the go, year-round, but still found time to fish when possible.
After graduation, I had a son, Braxton, and married my wife, Holly. Fishing is still a family hobby. My grandmother, parents, little brother, wife, and son are all interested in fishing and really enjoy the time we get to spend together as a family. Competition is one thing my entire family can agree on. It doesn’t matter what we are doing, it always turns into a competitive game. For me, fishing has become no different. Whether it is a tournament day or a day of fun fishing, I am still competing with myself and the fish and trying to learn everything possible.
I have fished tournaments with my father and friends for years, but for the last 5 years I have made a push at turning fishing into a profession. I will graduate in May with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and will be fishing the 2019 season for Liberty University.
